WCBR-HONDA SL100/125
Rider: Michael Green #21
If you’ve been reading the “Rob Whitaker” Honda page, you’ll know that Rob donated this bike to WCBR in the early 1980s. Our big idea of going “spec road racing” with a Honda 100 went in the tank, and when the CVRG rules included a 125cc Sportsman MX class, we went to work building an engine for the 1985 Dick Mann’s Vintage Dirt Bike Rally & CVRG series to follow. Other than the 125cc engine, the bike is the way it was when Rob rode and raced it in Dublin throughout the 1970s… complete with lay-down rear Koni’s.
The two pictures to the right are from Sandhill in 1986, Mike Green (#21) won his class that day. In 1986 he'd win the first of two
CVRG Sportsman 125 MX Championships on the Honda (and yes, even beating the 2-strokes!).  Below, after being overahul and repainted in the WCBR Blue/White combo, Mike Green wins at DeAnza MX in '87.
Mike still rides & races the Honda now again, winning the night MX at Hanford in 2003 (Classic 125) and finishing second in 2004. The bike now and again appears at Sandhill Ranch for Friday night TT practice.... eating up CRF150 Honda's in the process!
